Practitioners with 20+ years of industry experience: Experienced Practitioner Pathway for Certification

The CAIP Experienced Practitioner Pathway offers practitioners with extensive experience in research, analytics, and insights a path to obtain the CAIP certification without writing the standard exam. Candidates must have at least 20 years of experience in the research, analytics, and insights sector, as well as demonstrable leadership experience in senior positions. CAIP Canada will review submissions twice a year. 

To advance via the CAIP Experienced Practitioner Pathway, an applicant must: 

• complete a short online quiz on CAIP Canada Ethics and Standards
• agree to follow CAIP Canada’s Professional Standards; 
• submit a detailed CV showing at least 20 years of experience in the field; 
• provide two Canadian references – one must be a CAIP member in good standing. 
• write three short reflections (500 – 1000 words each) that:
  • show how you’ve mastered two of CAIP Canada’s four technical competencies;
  • show how you’ve mastered two of CAIP Canada’s four enabling competencies
  • share your thoughts on the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the industry in the next five years

Key dates & cost

• Applications are reviewed twice a year:
• Applications submitted on or before September 30 will be reviewed no later than the end of November.
• Applications submitted on or before March 31 will be reviewed no later than the end May.
• The fee is $850. This includes a non-refundable $500 processing fee and a $350 annual membership fee (refunded if your application isn’t successful).
